Code Of Ethics
The purpose of the Siberian Husky Club Of The Redwoods is to protect and advance the interests of the registered Siberian Husky.
This Code of Ethics is designed to establish a standard of conduct to be followed by all members of The Siberian Husky Club Of The Redwoods in order to promote the highest ideals among Siberian Husky owners and breeders, and aim for the continuous improvement of the breed within the framework of The American Kennel Club approved breed standard.
- Each member of The Club will consider the welfare of the breed when engaged in any activities involving the breeding, exhibiting, and selling of Siberian Huskies, and will refrain from any actions which would be prejudicial to the best interests of the breed and of The Club.
- All members of The Club shall conduct themselves at all times in a manner which will reflect credit upon themselves and upon the breed regardless of the location or circumstances, but especially when attending dog club meetings or shows, whether as an exhibitor or a spectator, and will promote goodwill among fellow members and other fanciers of the breed.
- Any breeding shall be done with discrimination for the purpose of improving the breed.
- No member of The Club shall engage in wholesaleing litters of Siberians or individual sales of puppies or adults to pet shops or other commercial establishments, nor shall they be given as prizes in contests, nor exploited to the detriment of the breed or of pure-bred dogs.
- Violations or infractions to the Code of Ethics are to be brought to the Board of Directors attention, and will be dealt with in the manner prescribed by The Club's Constitution and By-Laws.
- Keep well-informed in the field of genetics and work persistently to eliminate hereditary defects from the breed.
- Before entering into any breeding agreement, carefully analyze the conformations and the pedigrees of the prospective sire and dam, and, in keeping with the breed standard clearly in mind, refuse the mating if, in the opinion of the owner of either the sire or the dam, it will not be in the best interest of the breed.
- Explain to all prospective Siberian Husky purchasers the disadvantages as well as the advantages of owning a Siberian Husky.
- Refuse to deal with dog wholesalers or to sell puppies or dogs to pet shops, and will include in all stud contracts an agreement to be signed by the owner of the bitch that no puppies resulting from the mating will be wholesaled or sold to pet shops.
